Gerda Taro School Leipzig

In the heart of Leipzig, on the roof of the M.I.T. Gymnasium, an impressive photovoltaic system with solar modules from Solar Fabrik has been installed, making an important contribution to the school’s sustainable energy supply.

About the project

The project for the six-form grammar school on the edge of Clara Zetkin Park was developed in collaboration with Stadtwerke Leipzig and OSC Solar System GmbH. A total of 440 solar modules from Solar Fabrik were installed on the school buildings on a generous PV generator area of 859.2 m². These are our high-performance module, the Mono S4 Halfcut Innovation Powerline 430W, which is known for its high efficiency. The system is equipped with four inverters and achieves an impressive PV generator output of 189.20 kWp.

With an annual yield of 1073.36 kWh/kWp, the system is optimally designed to cover a large part of the school’s energy requirements. In fact, 65% of the electricity generated is consumed directly on site, making the school less dependent on external energy sources and significantly reducing energy costs. In addition, the photovoltaic system makes a significant contribution to environmental protection by avoiding 95,449 kg of CO₂ emissions per year. These figures underline the importance of this installation for the energy transition and the sustainable development of the region.
